When you hear the word investment, what’s the first thing that you think of?
The stock market?
If any of those terms come to mind, you are correct. But you can make other investments every day that can make all aspects of your life better. While I do believe it is ultimately necessary to invest your money for the future, there are other ways to invest in the bigger picture and here are some of my favorites.
Ways To Invest In Yourself
It comes as no surprise that over 80% of wealthy people read at least 2 books per month. Reading not only provides you with new, insightful information but it also helps stimulate your brain. By reading books directly related to your field or what you want to learn about, you can become an expert yourself just by absorbing the content and applying it.
Going to conferences or events
This can be one of the best investments in yourself if you go about it the right way. A conference is a gathering of like-minded people looking to gain knowledge on a particular subject. Most people that attend such conferences are usually self-driven and motivated because they attended the conference in the first place. Use these gatherings as a great way to network and build your personal brand, while also soaking in knowledge from those around you.
Take a class
With Skillshare.com, you can take classes from people who are experts on specific subjects. Think of it as a next-gen college class that you can choose and can actually apply the content in real life. The class might only take a couple of hours and you can walk away with valuable knowledge.
You must set goals or you will go through your day to day life without purpose and find yourself lost. Take some time to reflect on yourself, who you are, and what you want to be. Once you have discovered that piece, set goals in all aspects of your life whether it be financially, relationships, careers, or just personal goals. Having goals will help you make sure you are working towards them every day and you will find that you have a purpose behind what you’re doing.
Make Your Health a Priority
Exercising on a regular basis has had a great impact on my life. I feel more rejuvenated and I feel better about myself in general. If I skip a workout or exercise, my mind will not stop thinking about it because I know I should be doing it and I’m losing progress by not going. Working out also acts as a stress relief from my normal day-to-day tasks. Changing up your diet can also have a big impact on your health. Skip the fast food. Not only because it isn’t the healthiest food choice out there, but if you track how much money you are spending on fast food you’ll be surprised. It adds very quickly. If you do some research on how to improve your diet and what steps you can take, it will have a great positive impact on your life. You only have one body, please take care of it.
